I came to painting full-time later in life, though art has always been close to my heart. Creativity runs in my family — both my maternal grandparents were professional artists, and my mother played a big part in nurturing my talent. Her guidance and encouragement helped me discover my potential, even without formal training.
After raising my children and building a successful business, I chose to retire with purpose: to dedicate myself fully to painting. Today, my work reflects my life’s journey — the places I’ve traveled, the thoughts I’ve carried, and the emotions I’ve experienced. Each painting tells its own story.
Over the years, my subjects have ranged from Arab souks and holy places to Russian cityscapes, from the majesty of redwood forests to the mystery of distant galaxies. Nature, in particular, never ceases to amaze me and constantly reminds me of the greatness of the Creator.
Alongside landscapes, I have a deep love for folk art traditions. I often explore styles such as Russian Khokhloma, Moroccan geometric patterns, Persian glass mosaics, and Mughal inlay art.
What began as a personal passion has now grown into a business, Gulnar's art became GulnArt. I create commissioned works and also run an art and gift store, sharing beauty, culture, and a piece of my journey through every painting.
